U17s V Naas RFC

Coolmine RFC’s U17 squad got their season off to a winning start on Sunday in perfect weather conditions with a 28 to 24 win over visitors Naas RFC in Ashbrook.

Although playing with only 14 players, Naas were a strong, skilled and organized squad that took the game to Coolmine until the final whistle.  But a calm, patient and determined Coolmine squad played to their strengths with some resilient defence and fast, powerful attacking play.

Tries from James Caffrey, Robbie Carolan and Callum Oliphant with conversions from Conn O’Rourke off the back of some excellent work from the forward pack, led by Adam Bolton along with Dominic Ukandu and Sean McDonnell, helped earn the win in what was an all-round team effort.

This was a rejuvenated Coolmine squad in their first competitive game under new Head Coach Ken Condon who look now towards their next match away this coming Sunday to Clontarf
