OUR CLUB

 COOLMINE RUGBY

A PROUD TRADITION SINCE 1980

WELCOME FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT, MICHAEL BERMINGHAM

It is a great personal honour to be elected Club President of Coolmine R.F.C. for the
forthcoming 2019-20 season in what is an especially significant year as we celebrate the
Club’s 40 th anniversary in 2020. I along with all club members eagerly await the start of what
we hope will be an exciting and enjoyable season for all our teams.

As Club President, I would like to extend on behalf of all our members, a very warm welcome to all players, officials and supporters visiting Coolmine R.F.C. over the course of this playing season. I wish the players, coaches and team managers of all our Club’s teams, from the under 6’s up to our Senior Squads, the very best of luck and success for the coming season and I look forward to watching them play in the Coolmine spirit and tradition.

I reserve a particular word of thanks and appreciation to all the volunteers who give so freely
of their valuable time and without whose efforts; the Club just could not function. Your
dedication and commitment is very much appreciated.  Many hands make light work and the
more volunteers we have the more we can do and achieve. If you would like to get involved
in assisting and contributing to your Club, please contact me or any member of the
Executive Committee.

The Clubhouse has excellent entertaining facilities and is available all year round for both
business and private functions. Our function room is well supported with both bar and
catering facilities and our Clubhouse Manager will be very happy to assist you in organising
your event including catering. We have a floodlight Astro Turf area that is available for
renting to outside groups as well as members.

I would like to thank all of our Club Sponsors for their continued generosity and valued
support which is essential to the running of Coolmine R.F.C. Please do not hesitate to
contact should you wish to come onboard as a sponsor of Coolmine R.F.C.
I look forward to welcoming you to our Clubhouse and Grounds this year and I wish all our
teams an enjoyable and successful season.

Michael Bermingham - Club President - Coolmine Rugby Football Club

THE HISTORY OF COOLMINE RUGBY CLUB ...

1980 TO 2015

Coolmine RFC, is located in the north west Dublin 15 area of Dubli, was first affiliated to the Leinster Branch - Irish Rugby Football Union in 1980 and entered the Junior Leagues in 1981.

The Mini Rugby Youths section was founded in 1980 and has prospered ever since in the Dublin 15 suburb of Co Dublin. In 1985, after a number of successful  years on the playing fields, Coolmine purchased its current home, a site consisting of eight acres at Ashbrook, Castleknock, Dublin 15. A series of developments took place over the following years and the site now consists of two floodlit pitches, training area, car park and amodern two storey clubhouse which was officially opened in 1993 by the then President of Ireland, Mary Robinson. On the playing front, Coolmine has continued to prosper and the first XV currently competes in the Leinster League.  The Under 20s compete in the J.P.Fanagan League and the youths from 7s-18s have their own Metropolitan League and Cup Competitions.

A selection of Cups and Pennants from the various sections adorn the upstairs bar area. While concentrating much on the playing front, Coolmine has not neglected the social aspect and as well as the mandatory trips to England, Scotland and Wales, it has undertaken tours to Italy, France and the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong. Teams at all levels regularly organise tours throughout the year.

In 2006, Coolmine completed an ambitious clubhouse renovation project which added two new changing rooms, shower areas and toilets, as well as an entrance atrium, committee room and viewing balcony over the main pitch. Our new clubhouse is also wheelchair accessible with a lift to the first floor.

WHY JOIN
COOLMINE RFC?

At Coolmine RFC, we help players to develop and reach their potential from an early age. Many of our senior players started their rugby with the club as mini-rugby players. We are an ambitious club and hope to gain senior status in the AIL. Just come down to the club and see for yourself!

 Registration - Frequently Asked Questions

Why is registration done online only?
As well as collecting the necessary subscription we use the details collected online to manage club communications for the year.

Every detail you enter is used so please be careful when entering names and dates of birth, etc. There are often mistakes made at registration which cause confusion later.

What if I don't want to register now?
To put it simply, if a player is not registered online then he/she is not officially part of the age group. You may not receive communications related to your group and more importantly the player may not be insured with the club. If you are a mini parent you are considered a member of the club only when the mini registration is completed.

I can't afford to register right now. What should I do?
Please contact the Club Secretary in confidence honseccoolminerfc@gmail.com and they can discuss some arrangements with you.

What are all these membership options?

On the My Club Finances page you are presented with a list of membership types or 'plans'. As well as under age categories the list of plans, as well as senior players. Don't panic! Simply select the type(s) and quantities of each plan you require, and click next.

Are there discounts for multiple mini and youth players in a family as in previous years?
Yes there are still discounts for multiple purchases of most under age categories (u6-u17). The discounts have been re-structured and simplified but the result will be the same overall registration fees.  The discount will be visible to you once you add multiple plans to your cart.

Why am I asked for Parent/Guardian details in some categories?
When you add an u6-u18 player, you will also be asked for the details of one Parent/Guardian.
In Mini categories (u6-u12) this parent will be the nominated person from your family who will be a full club member of Coolmine RFC or the 2016/2017 Season.

Why are email and mobile phone number questions asked for 'child' players?
These contact details will be used to send training and match details specifically for those players. This gives flexibility to parent/guardians to give different contact details for different players. We are aware that Mums and Dads can split responsibilities when there are multiple players in the family so please enter the contact details for each player separately.

What are all these other crazy questions such as previous rugby club, nationality, and next of kin?
The answers to these questions are needed for the IRFU and Leinster Rugby 'Clubhouse' and 'Green Card' registration processes. We are asking these questions at registration because we intend to register all players with the IRFU during the season. You will be notified when this happens as your additional consent and other details will be required. Our intention is that we will make this process as easy as possible by gathering the details now.

 FACILITIES TO HIRE

Our modern two-storey club house, which is fully wheelchair accessible and has extensive free parking, is available for hire.  It has a large function room with capacity for 120 people, a full bar and on-site kitchen facilities.  The club regularly hosts private parties, birthday celebrations, anniversary parties and other events (including even ballroom dancing). We can also arrange for catering facilities, DJ & sound equipment and local bus hire if required.

You can also hire our all-weather pitches, either separately or with the clubhouse, for bigger events. Marquee tents and outdoor beer taps can also be arranged.   All-weather pitch areas for rental are ideal for soccer or tag rugby.

With easy access from the M50 and from Ashtown rail station on the Maynooth commuter rail line to Connolly station, Coolmine RFC is perfectly located for many events.

If you are interested in hiring our function room or artificial pitch please contact our Club House Manager, George Caffrey

 THE ISLE

One person sings the lead
The lyrics in BLOCK CAPITALS are to be sung by everybody.

There is an Isle
THERE IS AN ISLE
A bonny Isle
A BONNY ISLE
Stands proudly from
STANDS PROUDLY FROM THE SEA
And dear or far
AND DEAR OR FAR
In all this world
IS THAT DEAR ISLE TO ME

It is not that alone it stands
ALONE IT STANDS
When all around is fresh and fair
IS FRESH AND FAIR

BUT BECAUSE IT IS MY NATIVE LAND
AND MY HOME
MY HOME IS THERE

Farewell farewell
FAREWELL FAREWELL
Though lands may meet
THOUGH LANDS MAY MEET
May meet my gaze
MY GAZE WHERE ERE I BE
I shall not find
I SHALL NOT FIND
A spot so fair
A SPOT SO FAIR
AS THAT DEAR ISLE TO ME

It is not that alone it stands
ALONE IT STANDS
When all around is fresh and fair
IS FRESH AND FAIR

BUT BECAUSE IT IS MY NATIVE LAND
AND MY HOME
MY HOME IS THERE
