Girls impress at their first hosted blitz

Coolmine RFC hosted their first Metro Girls Mini blitz on Sunday. Over 100 girls attended from seven different teams in the area. Three different age groups were in attendance - U12, U10 & U8.

We were also very lucky to have Ireland Rugby Players, Larissa Muldoon and Juliet Short, visit and talk to all the girls, spreading their rugby wisdom. The under 8’s were especially delighted to see the girls, as they played a small game of 3 v 3 which ended in a draw and lots of laughter.

It was great to see such a huge turnout in the Metro area from all age groups. It shows what a bright future lays ahead for women’s rugby, both in Leinster and in Ireland, and we at Coolmine are so excited to be a part of this growth.

After the games the teams were welcomed into the clubhouse where they were treated to a lovely spread of sandwiches and snacks. The clubhouse was full to the brim and it was excellent to see.

The day was a huge success with plenty of very happy faces, despite the horrible weather conditions on the day.

Coolmine RFC coaches girl’s mini rugby every Saturday from 1.00 to 2.00 and we are always happy to see new players.
