Coolmine Goes International

It's been a proud week for Coolmine. On the 26th April, two players from the Coolmine U18.5 team, Matt Grogan and Justin Leonard, received their first (of many!) caps for Ireland at Kings Hospital.

Justin Leonard and Matt Grogan

Justin and Matt's rugby careers started at a young age in Coolmine and they have soared from there. Justin joined Coolmine when he was 12 years old and participated in a very successful 2001 group. Justin has Coolmine in his blood with his father widly known and respected around the club. Justin Senior, or Jake as he is commonly known, is an ex-Coolmine Player himself and one of the current U18 coaches. Matt's history with Coolmine see his participation in both 2000 and 2001 groups and was part of a strong Coolmine U17 team. Matt is also well known in the GAA circuit as a football player for St Brigids and has played age grade for various Dublin football teams. Both Matt and Justin played two seasons of SCT for Belvedere College during their school years.

The pinnacle of their rugby career to date was donning the green and taking on England on Wednesday 24th April 2019 and winning 30-17. This may be a high-point for now but we are confident there are many more career highlights in the future for both Justin and Matt.
